Serving the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area for 46 years and Counting
Mission Statement: Transforming lives and communities with innovative and collaborative therapy, training and research.
Vision: The Houston Galveston Institute will be a recognized leader in the dynamic evolution of innovative, effective and accessible psychotherapy approaches.
The unfortunate reality in our community is that many of those who need counseling the most are the ones who can least afford it. The current typical rate for an hour of counseling is $150 in our area. Without adequate insurance, counseling is out of reach for many Houstonians. We make counseling more accessible by offering a sliding scale fee model that reduces the per-session fee based on income and family size. As a non-profit, we are able to lower our fees because of generous supporters like you.
In 2024 HGI Counseling partnered with organizations that help human trafficking survivors, domestic violence survivors, military veterans, new parents, immigrants, struggling students, people with chronic illnesses, children on the autism spectrum, single parents, Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers, unhoused persons, veterans, and more. We’re constantly asking the community of helpers in our region how we can help them with their clients.
So far in 2024, we’ve helped 11,000 people feel more empowered, more self-compassionate, and more engaged in their lives.
